Remote editing

When opening a file from a remote location, the file is first replicated locally to be opened by your viewer of choice. This method makes changing a remote file rather complicated. ForkLift's remote edit feature however simplifies this process to a single click. By selecting "Edit with" instead of "Open" in the item's context menu, the remote file is copied to the local cache and opened for editing. Unlike the Open feature however, the Edit feature keeps monitoring the local file for changes and uploads the modified version back to the remote location.

Editing preferences can be fine tuned in ForkLift > Preferences > Editing. The Default Editor option sets the application to edit files with. Custom editors may also be set to certain types of files based on their extension.
